Dursley

Today we walked 11.5 miles with 1,800 feet of elevation gain. We have really been lucking out with the weather. It was mostly sunny today with a high of 69, perfect hiking weather. It was a hot, dry summer here, which is unusual and explains why the grass was so brown in some of our earlier photos. But they had some rain before we arrived, and we’ve had a little overnight rain while we’ve been here, so the grass has actually been getting greener as we go. I was a little sad to see so much brown at first, since I had pictured our views looking like scenes from All Creatures Great and Small. I’m glad to see the green coming back!

Some sunnier pictures of our hotel in the morning. We had to walk the furtherest off the trail to get to this one, about a mile each way, but it was worth it because it was all along this pretty canal that we would not have seen otherwise.

The is almost the closest Tristan has got to a sheep. I have a much better understanding now of why we use "sheepish" to mean shy.

Our inn for the night is a B&B in a residential area run by a couple. It feels like staying at gramma's house. It's cozy and they do your laundry for you for a small fee. It's perfect, just what we need at this point in our journey.

Tomorrow is probably our easiest day where we only have a 7 mile walk to Wotton-under-Edge. There is even the option to make it only 5, but we'll do the whole 7. We'll still reach our next inn before check-in but thankfully it'll be a bigger town so hopefully there will be some things to see once we're there.
